First off, Thank You Dempsey Challenge Volunteers.
Thank you to W1GF, N1KAT, N1OXA, KC1SES, KC1TRE, KU1U, N1URA, WE1U, W2GPJ, KE4UCW, and KC1LFK. Because of you efforts, amateur radio was able to provide emergency communications for this event from each bicycle rest stop. This was a wide area coverage event and everyone’s flexibility and cooperation helped to keep our communications solid. I hope to see you all here next year!!!
Season Change
The season changes and so do our efforts. There are still some Winter events in Maine, but much of that support wanes as the colder weather sets in. So it’s time to look at what has been done and what can be improved. It’s also a time to train; refresh existing capabilities, introduce new ones, and plan to make everything we do – better.
GMRS
One of the efforts is incorporating GMRS into our ARES communications. An initial inquiry about possible involvement by Maine GMRS operators met with considerable enthusiasm. This is the time to begin moving forward with how that can happen and be most effective. Stay tuned!
