Dempsey Challenge

Overview
Amateur radio has provided backup emergency communications for the Dempsey Challenge since its inception. Initially we had operators in SAG vehicles (Support And Gear) as well as rest stops. We now only provide communications at rest stops and the command station. The command station is at the Hampton Hotel at the start of the event and rest stops are located at key points throughout the routes.
Expectations
Operators should arrive enough in advance of their locations active time to get situated, setup, and test equipment. This includes whatever time may be necessary to resolve unexpected issues.
Once operational, operators must check in to Net Control.
Operators must notify Net Control anytime the station is not being attended and immediately upon return.
